On December 23,13 Bangladeshi fishermen were abducted by cadres of the Arakan Army (AA) while fishing in the Bay of Bengal near St Martin’s Island, among them, six were identified as Nur Mohammad, 60, Hamid Hossain, 45, Md Hampuro, 15, Jasim Uddin, 18, and Harun Mia, 40, residents of St Martin’s, and Md Habibullah, 60, of Shamlapur in Teknaf Upazila (Sub-District) of Cox’s Bazar District, reports Jago News 24. Local fishermen stated that six were initially seized in the morning from waters adjacent to Myanmar’s Maungdaw Township, followed by the abduction of seven more around noon from nearby fishing boats.
