22nd December 2025
Four cadres of the Tritiya Prastuti Committee (TSPC), a splinter group of the Communist Party of India-Maoist (CPI-Maoist), were arrested during a raid in Benti village under Piparwar Police Station limits in Chatra District of Jharkhand on December 22, reports Devdiscourse. According to the local Police, the operation in Benti village was launched after credible intelligence indicated plans of an imminent major crime orchestrated by the TSPC. Two country-made pistols, two cartridges, a motorcycle, and three mobile phones were recovered from the possession of the cadres. The arrestees confessed to their involvement in a December 16 firing within the Khalari Police Station area, an act intended for extortion. Subsequently, an FIR was registered, and the accused were placed in judicial custody.
