On December 17,one of the three accused, identified as Harbhinder Singh, alias Maddi, in the murder of kabaddi team promoter Kanwar Digvijay Singh, alias Rana Balachauria, was shot dead in a police encounter in AmbalaChandigarh National Highway near Lalru in Punjab, reports The Tribune. Harbhinder Singh was reportedly an active operative of foreign-based gangster Doni Bal and involved in other firing cases in Tarn Taran District. During the encounter, a police official, Gulab Singh, sustained injuries. Punjab Police teams, including 12 units of Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), Special Security Operations Cell (SSOC), and district police, had been pursuing the accused for two days. The other two suspects, Aditya Kapoor and Karan Pathak, remain at large. Earlier, SATP reported Kanwar Digvijay Singh had been shot dead on December 15 in Mohali at point-blank range near a parking lot after the assailants lured him under the pretext of taking a selfie. The Gopi Ghanshyampuria gang claimed responsibility on social media.
