On December 17, a Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) leader, Biru Mollah (75), President of the Lokhmikunda Union unit, was shot dead by unidentified assailants inside his residence in Ishwardi Upazila (Sub-District) of Pabna District, reports The Daily Star. Officer-in-Charge of Ishwardi Police Station, Md Mominuzzaman, said, "Primarily, we have learned that previous enmity and a land dispute were behind the killing."
