SAA event in Ontario, Caledon area, Canada on Tue 16th December 2025
16th December 2025
On December 16, two Indian-origin brothers, identified as Ranbir Singh Mand and Dharmjit, residents of Ontario, Canada, have alleged that they received repeated extortion threats demanding USD 2 million from an individual claiming to be associated with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, reports Times of India. Ranbir Singh Mand stated that the caller, identifying himself as “Raja” (believed to be a pseudonym), accused the brothers of selling drugs to Punjabi youth in Canada, an allegation they denied. The threats escalated after an unidentified person allegedly fired gunshots from a moving car outside Dharmjit’s farm in Caledon. Subsequently, the brothers received threatening messages on social media and WhatsApp in Punjabi, warning that the shooting was a “last warning” and threatening to kill them if the demand was not met. The matter has been reported to authorities and forms part of a growing pattern of alleged gang-linked extortion targeting Indo-Canadian individuals.
