On December 14,Armed assailants opened fire at the residence of a former Jatiyatabadi Chhatra Dal (JCD) leader, Farid Member's house, Ahmed Reza, a former joint convener of the Bayezid Bostami unit of JCD in Uttar Kulgaon of Baluchara area in Bayezid Bostami area of Chattogram District, reportedly after he protested an extortion attempt from a local contractor, reports The Daily Star. A video circulating on social media shows four armed individuals approaching the house and opening fire, reportedly discharging around 15 rounds before fleeing the scene. No arrests were made, and no case was filed.
