Hitmen intercepted and executed Efraín Medina Valenzuela, who served as Director of Intelligence for the state government of Colima during the administration of Ignacio Peralta Sánchez.
The attack occurred this afternoon as Medina Valenzuela was driving his vehicle. His wife was wounded in the attack.
According to unofficial reports, the attack took place in front of the Colima Institute of Technology. Medina Valenzuela suffered multiple gunshot wounds, primarily to the head, which caused his almost instantaneous death.
It was reported that Efraín Medina and his wife were traveling in a red Volkswagen Jetta from Villa de Álvarez towards Colima (westbound).
