Sixteen junta soldiers, including one officer, were killed when resistance forces attacked a military truck from Infantry Battalion 71 with landmines in Aunglan Township, Magway Region, according to Captain Ye Bo Zay Gyi, the commander of the Yoma Fighter Column, who spoke to Yangon Khit Thit News.
The attack occurred around 8:30 a.m. on December 23, when a military truck carrying about 20 soldiers from Infantry Battalion 71 in Aunglan hit a mine while inspecting a mined area between Hlaytone and Tankhon Taing villages. Resistance forces detonated landmines and fired on the vehicle during the ambush.
