Cluster Bomb / Submunition event in Sagaing, Wetlet Township area, Myanmar on Wed 31st December 2025
31st December 2025
At around 11:24 p.m. on December 24, two jet fighters from the junta’s Tada-U Air Base launched three bombing runs on a forest monastery known as Than Kone, located near Thone Bo Village in northeastern Wetlet Township, where many internally displaced civilians had been taking refuge.
The jets reportedly dropped a 300-pound bomb and several cluster bombs on the area. While it has not yet been confirmed whether there were any civilian casualties, sources said there had been no fighting in the area at the time — suggesting the attack specifically targeted displaced villagers.
