At least seven civilians fleeing conflict were killed and many others injured when junta aircraft bombed river ports used by displaced people along the Ayeyarwady River near the border of Thabeikkyin Township, Mandalay Region, and Khin-U Township, Sagaing Region, according to local residents.

The attack occurred around noon on December 17, when five junta fighter jets dropped bombs on civilians attempting to cross the Ayeyarwady River from Chaung Thalel Port in Thabeikkyin Township to seek refuge in Khin-U Township.
