On the afternoon of December 18, a jet fighter and three gyrocopters bombed the area near Myay Ni Shyo junction in Khin-U Township.
Bombs landed on a fuel depot, causing explosions and fires that spread to the area. Civilians traveling along the Shwebo–Myitkyina road — including bus passengers, truck drivers, and shopkeepers near the junction — were caught in the bombing.
