Rocket event in Magway Region, Gangaw area, Myanmar on Wed 17th December 2025

Resistance forces fired rockets into the junta’s Light Infantry Battalion 50 base in Gangaw Town, Magway Region, killing and injuring several troops, according to a representative from Yaw A Lin Tan group.

At around 6:15 a.m. on December 17, local revolutionary forces fired three short-range rockets at the junta’s LIB 50 compound in Gangaw. All three rockets reportedly struck their intended targets inside and around the base, causing casualties among junta forces.

“The rockets hit the LIB 50 compound directly. There are confirmed casualties, though exact numbers are still being verified. One rocket hit inside the battalion compound, another near the township administration office, and a third near the Forestry Department compound. This was a warning attack because they were preparing for sham elections and planning new offensives into nearby villages,” the spokesperson from Yaw A Lin Tan said.
