On December 12, a convoy of about 30 personnel — combining troops from Light Infantry Battalion 229 and Police Battalion 16, under the command of Major Lin Myat Tun — was heading toward Nan Khama Village when they were ambushed with landmines planted by resistance forces.

The explosion killed four junta soldiers and injured seven others. Following the attack, the damaged convoy retreated from the area. Later, reinforcements were deployed, and junta forces began clearance operations around the villages near Nan Si Pon Maw in Khin-U Township.
