On 20 November 2025, in El Empalme (Guayas), an unknown number of unidentified armed individuals (described as hitmen) on a motorbike shot and killed a woman in a drive-by shooting in the La Independencia sector, on the road to Guayaquil. Later, an unknown number of unidentified armed individuals on a motorbike shot and killed a man and injured two others in another drive-by shooting in the La Independencia sector. One of the injured victims died in hospital later. The authorship and motivations are unknown. 3 fatalities.
