On 19 November 2025, cadres of the Malajkhand-Tirodi-Platoon of CPI (Maoist) ambushed a joint team of Madhya Pradesh Hawk Force, Maharashtra, and Chhattisgarh Police while they were conducting an operation in the dense forests near Kauhapani under Bortalab police station limits on the Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh-Maharashtra border (Rajnandgaon district, Chhattisgarh). One Hawk Force inspector was killed in the clash and large quantities of arms, ammunition, and Maoist literature were recovered from the encounter site.
