On 18 November 2025, an armed clash took place between the Commando regiment of the Lebanese Armed Forces (LAF) and armed gunmen in Al Sharawneh neighborhood in Baalbek city (Baalbek, Baalbek-Hermel). Two LAF soldiers were killed and three others were injured in the clash while one highly wanted individual was also killed. A large quantity of drugs and weapons were seized in the operation.
