On 18 November 2025, in Japeri (Rio de Janeiro), drug traffickers shot several times and injured a baby who was inside his family's car in the Sao Jorge community. The attack motivation is unknown. According to the family, the baby's father, who was driving the car, followed the safety procedures imposed by the traffickers, such as turning on the hazard lights and lowering the headlights when entering the community. Even so, another vehicle approached, and the occupants opened fire. There were no fatalities.
