SAA event in Costa Caribe Norte, Sukatpin area, Nicaragua on Tue 18th November 2025

On 18 November 2025, in Sukatpin, Costa Caribe Norte, an armed man shot and killed an indigenous community leader and injured another one. According to community members, both indigenous leaders were questioning a man accused of carrying out the illegal transaction of indigenous lands with the help of the political secretaries of the Sandinista Front. Due to such accusation, the man attacked the two leaders and subsequently fled. In retaliation to the attack, relatives and friends of the victims set fire to two houses belonging to the attacker's family members. 1 fatality. 1 injured.
