On 15 May 2019, regime helicopters dropped 2 barrel bombs on the town of Heish while regime and Russian warplanes carried out air raids on the town. One of the missiles impacted Ibn al Qayyem Primary School, partially destroying its building and damaging its furniture with neither injuries nor fatalities reported.
