Mine event in Si Sa Ket, Thailand on Tue 2nd December 2025
2nd December 2025
Second Army Region issued a document clarifying the explosion incident in the Huai Ta Maria area, stating that yesterday (December 2, 2015) at 2:20 PM, Unit 1622, operating in the Huai Ta Maria area, along the newly constructed tactical route, which is a U-turn point in front of the operations base, detected an explosion. Upon inspection, it was found to be a PMN-2 anti-personnel mine. The explosion occurred in the area.
Based on an inspection of the area and information from personnel in the area, it is assumed that the mines were placed within the original minefield laid by the Cambodian side to slow down or prevent our advance during the period when the area was not yet fully under control before our side later took control of the area.
