On 27 November 2025, overnight, an unidentified armed group placed an unknown explosive device that detonated near the upper entrance gate of Mekelle University's Adi Haqi Campus in the Adi Haqi neighborhood in Mekele, Mekelle (Mekelle Tigray, Tigray). There were no casualties or material damage. The Mekelle City Peace and Security Sector Office said the incident was 'deliberately orchestrated,' and that regional and city security institutions are working together to identify and apprehend those responsible.
