Fighting is ongoing between the Military Commission and the Shan State Progressive Party/Shan State Army (SSPP/SSA) in Kyaukme Township, northern Shan State, the SSPP has announced.

The SSPP said that the fighting broke out when around 100 military commissioners advanced towards the SSPP camp near Pong Waw Village, Kyaukme Township, at around 1 p.m. on November 29.

The SSPP statement said that the fighting was intense as the military commission's forces used drones in addition to ground forces.

Kyaukme Township has been an area where SSPP troops have been operating for a long time. In addition, the TNLA captured Kyaukme Township on August 5, 2024, during the second part of Operation 1027, and the military commission was able to retake it about a year later in October 2025.
