IED event in Germany on Sat 29th November 2025
29th November 2025
Investigators in Germany believe the explosion at the entrance to a block of flats in Dusseldorf was the result of a criminal act.Investigations have revealed that an explosive device detonated there, prosecutor Janne Jakobek said on Friday. She added that the building belongs to a well-known rap musician, confirming media reports. Although he was briefly at the scene, he has not yet been interviewed as a witness, she said.A more detailed examination of the evidence will take some time. So far, there is only speculation as to who the bomb attack may have been directed against, whether the owner of the house or one of the residents. The blast caused considerable damage to property on Thursday night, but no one was injured.Seven residents were temporarily accommodated in emergency municipal accommodation. However, after a structural inspection, the house was found not to be in danger of collapsing.Last year, western Germany was hit by a series of explosions at 22 locations. Most of the cases occurred in Cologne and the surrounding area, however, there were also explosions in Dusseldorf and Duisburg.Investigators say those explosions were triggered by disputes between drug gangs and the theft of around 300 kilograms of cannabis from a warehouse near Cologne. The investigations led to the identification of 35 suspects by January 2025.
