In a further display of their power, members of Gente del Serio (GDS), a faction of the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG), were captured on camera patrolling in a convoy in the Tierra Caliente region of Guerrero. The images, recorded at night, show several heavily armed pickup trucks, with members of the group wearing uniforms similar to those of federal forces, highlighting their growing territorial control in the area.
The GDS, also known as "La Seriesada," has increased its presence in the region despite rumors of the death of its leader, "El Serio," in 2023. This group has intensified its operations in the state of Guerrero, competing with other criminal organizations, such as La Familia Michoacana. Security experts agree that this expansion reflects the consolidation of the CJNG in key drug trafficking areas.
