A violent clash between criminal groups in the Costa Chica region of Guerrero left five gunmen dead and two vehicles burned.

The events occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, November 11, on a dirt road near the community of La Estrella, in the municipality of Tecoanapa.

The attack is directly linked to the territorial dispute between criminal organizations in the area, which has experienced a severe increase in violence in recent months.

Witnesses from the community reported that the day of violence began with a chase between armed men in several vehicles. Minutes later, an intense shootout with high-caliber weapons erupted, causing alarm among the residents.

Upon arriving at the scene, members of the Guerrero State Public Security Secretariat, the National Guard, and state police confirmed the massacre. The bodies of the five victims, all with gunshot wounds and signs of having been burned, lay on the dirt road.

Next to them were two completely burned-out cars, one of them a Volkswagen Jetta.

The community of La Estrella is a critical route, located about 15 kilometers from Federal Highway 95, frequently used by armed groups to move around the region.
