Nigeria 🇧🇯 – JNIM has officially claimed responsibility for its first attack against the Nigerian army, marking a significant step in the geographic expansion of its armed activities. 🔵While attacks have been reported for months, even years, in the border region between Nigeria and Benin 🇳🇬, JNIM had never before used its official channel to claim responsibility. JNIM's public statement thus indicates its new operational capabilities and its desire to openly display its presence in Nigeria. In a statement released on November 23, 2025, the terrorist group claims to have attacked a Nigerian army position in Doroma (also known as Karunji), in the Baruten Local Government Area of Kwara State, on the border with Benin 🇧🇯. 🔵According to its statement, JNIM also claims to have taken "full control" of a military post in the town of Doroma, located in the Tenkando region, during an assault carried out the previous day, Saturday, November 22, 2025. This is the second assault claimed by the group in Nigeria, which until now has been primarily active in Mali, Niger, and Burkina Faso, with some limited incursions into Benin. 🔵On October 28, 2025, JNIM had already released a video acknowledging an attack carried out on Nigerian soil, although not through its official channels. The statement published on November 23 therefore constitutes its first formal claim via its official communication arm. The official confirmation of these operations could signal a strategic turning point for the terrorist group, which now seems confident enough to take responsibility and directly challenge the Nigerian state.
