At least five civilians were killed on Wednesday when an explosion struck an ammunition depot in the town of Kafr Takharim in the western countryside of Idlib province, according to a monitoring group and first responders.The Syrian civil defense center in the Harem area told state media that the victims remained trapped under the rubble hours after the blast, with rescue teams continuing excavation and recovery efforts at the site.The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a Britain-based war-monitoring group, said the explosion occurred inside an ammunition warehouse in Kafr Takharim, without immediately providing details on the cause of the blast or the full number of casualties.Rescue teams reported significant structural damage to buildings surrounding the depot, while local witnesses said the explosion sent plumes of smoke rising above the town.No armed group claimed responsibility for the warehouse or the materials stored inside, and there was no immediate comment from local authorities about the nature of the blast.
