The violence generated by the clashes and road blockades by the Jalisco New Generation Cartel (CJNG) yesterday in the municipality of Quiroga, Michoacán, claimed the life of an innocent victim.
A 21-year-old woman was struck by a stray bullet amidst the chaos. The victim, identified as Rosana Valentina C., was in the area of Francisco Madero and Vasco de Quiroga avenues, near the exit to Santa Fe de la Laguna, when CJNG members began exchanging gunfire and setting vehicles on fire.
During the confrontation, Rosana was shot in the pelvis. Municipal paramedics immediately assisted her and transported her to a hospital in Morelia, but unfortunately, she died hours later due to the severity of her injury.
On Tuesday morning, residents of the community of Santa Fe de la Laguna staged a road blockade to demand justice for Rosana's death.
The community has described the incident as a tragic reflection of the ongoing violence affecting civilians in the region. Authorities are continuing their investigations into the clashes that led to the shooting and the whereabouts of the assailants.
