A new attack against law enforcement shook Culiacán, Sinaloa, on Friday night.
A traffic police officer was ambushed by an armed group on Pedro Infante Boulevard, very close to the offices of the State Services Unit (USE).
The victim was identified as David Villegas, the shift supervisor for the department, who had eleven years of service and was on his way to work at the time of the attack.
Sinaloa, the Most Dangerous State for Police Officers. The Municipal Public Security and Transit Secretariat (SSPyTM) lamented the attack against Officer Villegas.
With the murder of David Villegas, the number of local police officers killed in Sinaloa this year rises to 45.
This number places the state as having the highest number of local police officers killed in the entire country, underscoring the high risk faced by security personnel in the region.
