A fierce confrontation between gunmen and members of the Mexican Navy (SEMAR) took place this afternoon in the town of Aguaruto, part of Culiacán, Sinaloa, causing panic among residents and significant traffic chaos in the area.

The confrontation ended with the arrest of three gunmen. The incident began when the suspects opened fire on the marines on the Culiacán-Navolato highway.

After the initial attack, the Navy returned fire and managed to subdue the assailants. Marines secured a vehicle and several weapons at the scene of the confrontation. The mobilization of federal forces led to the closure of streets on Pedro Infante Boulevard and Airport Causeway, near the Valle sector, while the area was secured.

The detainees were identified as 40-year-old Jesús Gerardo, 26-year-old Ernesto Alonso, and 21-year-old Bryan Gerardo. A video shared on social media documented part of the incident, showing members of the Navy arresting one of the assailants while confronting others who were trying to escape.

Authorities are maintaining surveillance of the area, and it is expected that the detainees and the seized material will be turned over to the Attorney General's Office (FGR).
