At around 11:30 a.m. on November 13, the military fired heavy artillery toward the DKBA-owned tiger farm near Pagoda Hill in Phalu Gyi village. One shell directly hit the farm’s guard post, causing an explosion that killed four people—two civilians and two DKBA members. The injured were reportedly transported to Mae Sot Hospital in Thailand by seven ambulances.
A Karen news source said, “The military launched heavy artillery fire at the DKBA security gate of the tiger farm near Phalu Gyi village. Nine people were hit, and four of them died. The wounded were taken to Mae Sot General Hospital in ambulances. Traffic on the road was halted because of the ambulances, and the area was very noisy.”
Another Karen military source reported that the artillery shelling injured six people—two Chinese nationals and four others—while one DKBA member and one tiger farm security guard were killed.
