IED event in Mexico on Wed 19th November 2025

As part of the “Michoacán for Peace and Justice” Plan, members of the National Guard (GN) and the Army carried out an operation that resulted in the arrest of seven people and the seizure of a large arsenal in the municipalities of Pátzcuaro and Jiquilpan. The actions, implemented through the “Paricutín” Operations Plan, led to the confiscation of drugs, two long guns, six improvised explosive devices, 36 magazines, and 860 cartridges, according to the Ministry of National Defense.

The security deployment in Michoacán focused on various strategic points. In the municipality of Pátzcuaro, security forces located and disabled two camps allegedly used by criminal groups. This action resulted in the seizure of five vehicles, two long guns, 35 magazines, and 850 cartridges, in addition to various tactical equipment. These findings demonstrate the presence of organized groups in the area.
