10th November 2025
Nine persons were killed and 32 were injured in an accidental explosion at Police Station (PS) Nowgam in Srinagar District of Jammu and Kashmir (J&K), during forensic sampling of a major explosives seizure brought from Faridabad District of Haryana on November 10, reports Greater Kashmir and The Hindu. J&K Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat said the blast occurred during routine examination and ruled out involvement of any Pakistan-based group, including Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) and its Offshoot, People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF). Casualties included one State Investigation Agency (SIA) official, three Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) personnel, two crime photographers, two revenue officials, and one civilian worker. The PS structure and nearby buildings sustained extensive damage. A departmental inquiry has been initiated, with the DGP stressing that “any speculation beyond an accidental blast is unnecessary.”
