An explosion occurred at a gate in the Annelund district of Malmö late on Thursday. Shortly afterwards, a 13-year-old suspect was taken into custody, reports Sydsvenskan.
Shortly before midnight, police were called to a loud bang at an apartment building. The entrance was damaged and several windows were broken.
It could be a hand grenade, the rescue service tells Sydsvenskan , but the police cannot confirm what went off.
The site was cordoned off and the National Bomb Squad was called to the scene.
“While we were working at the scene, we asked residents to stay indoors,” says Filip Annas, police spokesperson.
No one was injured during the incident.
On Thursday morning, the police announced on their website that a boy under the age of 15 is now suspected of public danger and a serious violation of the Flammable and Explosive Goods Act. The boy has been taken into custody and has been handed over to social services, the police write.
According to Sydsvenskan , the suspected boy is 13 years old.
