On 9 January 2021, an unidentified militant detonated a stun grenade and opened fire in the Al Mimdarah neighborhood (Ash Shaikh Outhman, Aden). There were no reports of fatalities. Security sources reported that the gunmen had connections to security services, but did not elaborate.
