On 19 April 2021, a police officer was killed, and 2 others were wounded in two consecutive blasts near the office of the Independent Election Commission (IEC) in the city of Qalat, Zabul. Another source reported that the chairman of the Zabul provincial council was also wounded and one bomb was planted on the roof of governor's compound.
