On 17 April 2021, unidentified militants detonated a roadside explosive device targeting a convoy carrying logistical materials for the US belonging to a contractor (Iraqi company and drivers) for the Global Coalition Against Daesh on near Shahid Nazar checkpoint west of Nassriya city. No damages occurred.
