On 20 April 2021, suspected IS cells targeted with RPGs a regime and pro-regime militias military post in the area of Tanfisat Akhdar Mayy in the desert of Al Mayadin in the countryside of Deir-ez-Zor. IS briefly took control of the post after the fighters manning the post withdrew from it. Neither injuries nor fatalities were reported.
