On 13 April 2021, unknown militants detonated a roadside explosive device targeting a convoy carrying logistical materials for the US belonging to a contractor (Iraqi company and drivers) for the Global Coalition Against Daesh in an unspecified location on the Muthanna highway on the Muthanna-Qadissiya provincial border area. No injuries occurred. Coded as Muthanna provincial capital As Samawah city.
