Around 6 April 2021, near Las Mercedes corregimiento, Sardinata municipality, Norte de Santander department, two civilians were injured when a landmine planted by an unidentified armed group exploded. A victim had one of his limbs amputated, while the second one suffered several injuries. There is a presence of several armed groups in the area.
