On 8 April 2021, around Laiza where the KIA headquarters is located, in Waingmaw Township (Myitkyina District, Kachin State), the Hkang Kai Bum and Hpun Pyen Bum-based Myanmar military LB-142 fired about eight to ten rounds of 105 mm mortars at the KIA battalion-24 of brigade-5 positions. Also, the Ma Ji mountain-based Myanmar military fired 105 mm mortars at the KIA battalion-27 positions. The sound of explosions was heard from Laiza. Casualties unknown.
