On 4 May 2021, in Thingangyun township (Yangon (east) district, Yangon region), an explosion took place near a railway station. Another explosion occurred at the Thuwanna High School where teachers were holding a meeting to prepare for the reopening of schools. No one was present at the school compound at the time of the blast. No casualties reported.
