On 3 May 2021, in Kan Bi Lar village, Pyay township (Pyay district, Bago region), an explosion reportedly caused by a parcel bomb occurred at a garden. Five people were killed, including an NLD lawmaker elected in the 2020 general election, as well as three police officers who had been on strike in support of the civil disobedience movement. One other person who survived the bomb attack had his hands amputated.
