On 5 May 2021, a cluster munition left over by an unknown armed organization detonated killing 2 Iraqi soldiers and injuring 1 in the Jeweibda (Juwayda) area of Al-Zubair district in Basrah province. The cluster munition detonated while security forces sweeping the area to lay the ground for an electrical tower construction project.
