On 1 May 2021, 7 civilians were killed, and 14 civilians were wounded, and 5 others missing, after a fuel tanker explosion that caught on fire at a fuel station in PD17 in the Karez-Mir area of the Shakardara district of the city of Kabul. The initial explosion caused a chain of explosions among other nearby tankers. It is believed that a sticky IED attached to one of the trucks was the cause of the initial explosion. Attackers unknown.
