On 22 January 2021, an IED planted by an unknown armed group exploded in an 8th brigade commander's car, affiliated to the 5th Assault Corps, who is a former opposition rebel on Kherbet Ghazala road in Dar'a countryside, injuring him. No fatalities were reported.
