On 22 January 2021, a remote controlled IED by Al Shabaab militants targeting a government security forces vehicle on patrol detonated near hotel plaza in Israac village (Gaalkacyo, Mudug). Two people were killed (one civilian and one police) and 8 others injured (3 civilians and 5 Police).
