On 21 January 2021, IS militants detonated two suicide bombers (SVESTs) in Bab al Sheikh and Bab Al-Sharji, Tayaran Square, Baghdad - Rusafa. 100 injuries and 34 fatalities composed of mostly Shiite civilians occured. The first SVESTs claimed to be sick and gathered a crowd before detonating. The second SVESTs detonated during casualty evacuation. Fatality count of 34 includes the two SVESTs.
