On 16 January 2021, Egyptian military forces launched airstrikes targeting areas under Islamic State control around Tufaha south of Bir Al-Abd (Bir Al-Abd, North Sinai), with no reports on whether or not there were resulting fatalities or injuries. This was the second consecutive day of airstrikes in the area.
