On 15 March 2021, a suicide bomber and member of Al Shabaab detonated a suicide vest, targeting government security forces (Bancroft) in Tortoroow village (Afgooye, Lower Shabelle). At least nine soldiers including three foreign soldiers, were reportedly killed.
